Arnold currently serves as marketing and communications counsel United Way Suncoast (Tampa Bay/Sarasota) and formerly the Director of Marketing for The Bar Plan, a national mutual insurance company specializing in risk management services for attorneys. His career spans C-level service as the president of the Greater Alton Convention and Visitors Bureau in the midwest for more than seven years. He was executive director for the successful Missourians for Higher Education campaign and, as an entrepreneur, started an award-winning creative services agency, Quantum Creative.
A graduate of the renowned University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism, Arnold focused his career on integrated strategic marketing communications. He is accredited with the Public Relations Society of America, a former member of the National Press Club, a delegate to the Mississippi River Parkway Commission, a former officer of the Illinois Council of Convention and Visitors Bureaus, a member of the International Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus and served on numerous boards including the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Byway Council as well as the National Great Rivers Museum board.
Past creative achievements include the Addy Nomination for Outdoor Communication in 1994, an Emmy Nomination for Broadcast Documentary in 1992, the 1989 IABC Bronze Quill Award for Video Production and he received the 1982 National Pro/Comm Award for Advertising. He is a graduate of the CASE Institute on Communications at Notre Dame University. He is also a US Navy veteran with broadcast experience with Armed Forces Radio and Television. Arnold’’s media experience created successful relationships with such noteworthy media as the New York Times, CNN, NPR, Washington Post, Time Magazine, National Geographic and NBC resulting in hundreds of media placements throughout the nation and around the world.
Douglas Arnold lives in Tampa Bay near the historic village of Wimauma, Florida. He shares his life and world with his wonderful wife, Nancy, and their ‘golden shepherd’ pound puppy, Toby the Wonder Dog. Every day at dusk they watch neighboring egrets, storks and cranes glide over the 90 acres behind their home, heading for the quiet wetlands nearby.
