Shelley Mitchell

For 21 years, Ms. Mitchell was directly responsible for the entire operations for Real Estate Management portfolios exceeding 4,000 units utilizing a staff of over 125 on-site personnel. She has worked in multifamily property management since 1990.  Shelley held several multi-site managerial positions including the Vice President position with several management companies to include Pinnacle, AIMCO and Corridor Management. Before her Property Management career, Shelley was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and holds two combat patches from Operations Just Cause in Panama and Operations Desert Shield/Storm in Saudi Arabia.  With this, Cosmopolitan Magazine named her their mascot in 1992 and The Fun Fearless Female Column was created as Shelley being the first of it's kind.

She is a CPM/ Certified Property Manager with IREM/ Institute of Real Estate Management where she served as the Chairman of the Education Committee for Connecticut and also served on the Board of the National Governing Counselors.. Shelley also holds several other designations: CAPS (Certified Apartment Property Supervisor) and CAM (Certified Apartment Manager), with the National Apartment Association and COS (Certified Occupancy Specialist) with the National Center for Housing Management and HCCP (Housing Credit Compliance Professional) from the National Center for Housing Management. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and Finance from Savannah State University and worked on her MBA in Finance and Human Resources at Georgia Southern University.  She has successfully held Real Estate licenses in Connecticut, Georgia and Texas.

In addition to her Real Estate career, for the last 20 years, she has had a successful track record in direct sales earning awards of Top Recruiter and Top Sales (personal and team sales) Nationally with several direct selling and party plan companies winning several trips to Hawaii, Cancun and multiple trips to Myrtle Beach.  In 2008, she was recruited by Avon Inc. as a District Sales Manager where she went on to re-build a struggling District taking it from last place in her Division to the top 30% of the Division in less than 6 months with over 1,200 representatives by coaching and training and helping others build their businesses with a primary focus on new recruits and growing her organizations leaders.  In addition, she has several years experience coaching Real Estate and Direct Sales leaders helping them to grow their businesses and reach their goals.

Shelley has spoken before national organizations and taught classes on specific industry related material including Thinking Outside the Box, Goal Setting, DISC, Successful Closing Techniques, and How to Pass a Shop.

She has completed Coaching courses with Franklin Covey, Jack Canfield, and Outward Image.  She also had personal live training with Lisa Nichols (from The Secret), Grace and Nicki Keohohou, Belinda Ellsworth, Caterina Rando and Karen Phelps and completed the DSWA Elite Leadership Certification Course.  Most recently, she has joined with ADDCA (ADD Coach Academy) to work on a Coaching Certification specifically designed for those with ADHD/ADD and her general coach training with the Coach Training Accelerator through the Coach Training Alliance. 

During her successful dual career in Real Estate and Direct Sales, she learned how make things happen even when ADHD/ADD got in the way.  Being strong and overcoming obstacles is her strength. 

She soon learned the same effect could be achieved by organizing one’s efforts around a central purpose, identifying goals and objectives to drive a person’s daily activities.
